Civil Service Exam Forest Ranger

The Indian Forest Service (IFS) is one of the Civil Services Examination conducted by Public Service Commission (PSC) for the recruitment officers at the All India level by the Government of India for the scientific management of its forests.

Indian Forest Service is one of the Civil Services of India and belongs to the apex All India Services group. IFS services are placed under various State cadres and joint cadres though they have the mandate to serve both under the State and Central Governments. The main mandate of IFS service is the implementation of the National Forest Policy which aims to ensure environmental stability and maintenance of ecological balance.

Forest Ranger Prelims Syllabus

1st Paper Syllabus (200 marks) Duration: 2 hours

  • Geography of India.
  • Current Events of National and International Importance.
  • History of Indian and Independent India.
  • General Science and Environment.
  • General Geographical Awareness of World.
  • Sports.
  • Geography, History, and Culture of Madhya Pradesh.
  • Polity and Economy of Madhya Pradesh.
  • Indian Polity and Economy.
  • Information and Communication Technology.
  • The Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993.
  • SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) 1980 (No. 33 of 1989) and the Protection of Civil Rights Act, 1955 (No. 22 of 1955).

2nd Paper Syllabus (200 marks) Duration: 2 hours

  • Decision Making and Problem Solving.
  • Interpersonal Skill including Communication Skill.
  • Comprehension.
  • Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability.
  • Hindi Language Comprehension Skill (Class X Level).
  • General Mental Ability.
  • Basic Numeracy and Data Interpretation.
